Viral TikTok videos promote common thing doctors say to not do after brushing

Viral TikTok videos have sparked a new approach to teeth brushing that experts support.

The suggested method involves brushing with a fluoride toothpaste, spitting out the excess paste, and avoiding rinsing immediately after.

Dental professionals endorse this technique, advising to brush with fluoride toothpaste at least twice daily to prevent cavities.

Not rinsing after brushing helps the fluoride coating to remain on the teeth, offering additional protection.

According to Brittany Seymour, a spokesperson for the American Dental Association (ADA) and an associate professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine, individuals who prefer to rinse after brushing can do so lightly with a small amount of water, such as a sip from the hand, or delay rinsing for approximately 20 minutes, reports Washington Post.
