Norfolk, Va. – Please see the following statement from neuroscientist and PETA Director of Scientific Advancement and Outreach Dr. Emily Trunnell regarding the National Institutes of Health’s release of its new “Statement on Catalyzing the Development of Novel Alternative Methods”:

NIH Director Monica Bertagnolli’s plan to prioritize non-animal research methods could eventually save millions of lives—both human and animal. Scientists at PETA are relieved to see many of our recommendations reflected in the steps outlined by the director, and we look forward to seeing them speedily implemented.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness.
