New Delhi, June 6: OPPO, a leading smartphone brand, has announced its commitment to making AI available on all its smartphones by the end of 2024. OPPO is also partnering with tech giants like Microsoft, Google and MediaTek to enhance AI features and ensure data security across its products.

As per a report of India Today, OPPO plans to integrate AI into all its smartphones by the end of 2024. To achieve this goal, the company has established a dedicated AI Research and Development Centre in Shenzhen and is collaborating with industry leaders to bring AI capabilities to its devices. OPPO’s AI strategy involves integrating AI capabilities into its entire products by making AI smartphones accessible to everyone. The company thinks that smartphones with AI should not be confined to flagship smartphones or selected users. The OPPO AI Centre in Shenzhen is dedicated to advancing AI capabilities across various domains, including machine learning, image processing, speech technology, natural language processing and computer vision.

OPPO’s strategic partnership with MediaTek is anticipated to enhance the development of chipsets that integrate dedicated AI processing units (NPUs) and accelerators, which will likely optimise AI capabilities on Oppo’s smartphones. OPPO is actively developing its own Large Language Models (LLMs) and has been integrating 7-billion-parameter LLM directly onto its devices. OPPO users will likely have the capability to utilise Microsoft’s Desktop Copilot on their smartphones through a connected PC. The collaboration with Microsoft is expected to integrate features such as Microsoft Fast Transcription and Neural Text-to-Speech (TTS) technologies, which is expected to enhance voice and text conversion. OPPO’s flagship smartphone lineup is expected to incorporate Google’s Gemini Large Language Models (LLMs), which will likely bring innovative features such as AI Writer and AI Recording Summary for its users.
